How to Enable and Disable Avast Game Mode

Avast’s game mode optimizes your computer’s settings for gaming. It mutes notifications and pauses updates to allow you to focus on the game. It also adjusts your PC settings so that gaming has precedence over other programs that could drain your CPU or slow down performance.

You will require lots of resources to play games, such as CPU, RAM MEMORY and GPU. Other apps or record processes can divert these resources from your gaming program, making it slow down or even crash. Avast’s game mode allows players to concentrate on video games, by temporarily removing background tasks and advising you of any interruptions that could occur.

It also reduces the impact of antivirus updates and scans on your gaming performance by notifying you when you are playing the game and halting the game to avoid interruptions. This can be an enormous benefit for gamers who don’t wish to have to pause their gaming to perform regular maintenance or risk being infected by viruses while trying to play.

Start the antivirus program and then click the menu button at the top-right corner of the Windows taskbar. You can then choose “Settings” and then turn the switch next to Enable Game Mode to on. If enabled, a specific icon will be displayed in the system tray to indicate that Game Mode is active.

You can also make use of an extra page in Avast to add specific applications and have them automatically switch to Game Mode when you play them. However, you may wish to turn off avast’s game mode at some point because of one of a variety of reasons. You can do this easily using the Avast user interface and we’ll explain how in this article.
